Uganda National Commission for UNESCO has undertaken the Mapping of Uganda's Cultural/Creative industries.The objective of this assignment is to collect socio-economic data on different segments of cultural/creative Industries such as handicrafts, visual arts, performing arts, radio and TV broadcast, Museum and heritage sites, publishing, design and fashion, music and drama among others. These industries understandably contribute to our economy in terms of revenue generation, employment creation, poverty reduction, exports revenue, social and sustainable development. The proposed Mapping exercise will be conducted in 4 regions of Uganda which have been classified as Clusters. These clusters are; the Northern Cluster, Eastern Cluster, Western Cluster and Central Cluster. These clusters will form a central consultation site for different regional districts and by mention atleast each cluster will concentrate between 10- 15 districts. The Mapping will seek to understand the various segments of cultural industries in terms of;
· Geographical distribution and concentration
· National statistics and Global market opportunities
· Exports( turn over)
· Contribution to Employment
· Contribution to GDP
· Loyalties and Copy rights
· Others aspects shall include infrastructure, policies, Industry structure and strategies
for developing creative/cultural industries
